bunny attacked last night. arrrrgh.
May. 10th, 2011 04:37 pmyou know how you have amuso one-line thought, then forget about it? and then sometimes the bunny comes back. WITH FANGS. and insistent queries about details and logistics.
Essentially, take my Matthew Bourne obsession. Then take one of my fave au tropes being dance!fic. (ballet, what have you, etc. Trek's produced some very good ones, of all fandoms.) And my love for Billy Elliot. And the horrors perpetuated when Yuletide author attempts to write Adult!Billy and gets 99% of the details about Swan Lake (and London) WRONG. And then the fact that someone in Inception wrote *good* ballet!fic and had Eames as having played the Swan at one point. ...And then The Eagle happened. Starring a) Jamie Bell and b) Channing Tatum. So there was me, going, so, if Esca was one of the principals for New Adventures and Marcus was another one/visiting, that'd be funny. And a nice pair-up as Prince and Swan. I giggled, moved on.
Then yesterday, the logistics bunnies started sidling up to me in a distinctly dodgy fashion. 'Come on, Marcus as a hip-hop dancer who'd seen bits of Swan Lake on tv and then got dragged to the touring productions...' 'Esca as Richard Winsor. Go on, he could totally do Dorian Gray and Edward Scissorhands.' 'And Marcus is a bit of an Esca fanboy and the hip-hop company has a residency at the Peacock or Barbican while New Adventures has its christmas residency at Sadlers.' 'Hrrm. Is Jamie Bell tall enough to play the Swan? He could totally do the intensity required, but height/being able to bulk up enough...'
Phone Taz and Gideon to chat. sadly they giggled and then started going 'hrrrm, logistics...' and started discussing it seriously and pushing carrots at the rabbits. We semi-agreed that Jamie would probably be better as Prince due to height, then Gideon quizzed Jen who pointed out that Nureyev and a lot of ballet principals are 5'8, same as Jamie, and that as a lot of the lifts in Swan Lake are assisted lifts, and that Adam and Scott used to trade off Prince and Swan during the original production, Swan is totally plausible.
...And now I have preliminary plot and need to research where precisely Edward Scissorhands and Dorian Gray toured and need to watch Step Up to see how Channing dances. AND YES, THERE WILL BE BILLY ELLIOT JOKES. SHUT UP. I AM WEAK. Question is how many months it takes before it sees the light of day...
