I really need to stop watching Do You Wanna Date My Avatar. Felicia Day, you are a force for evil. And horribly catchy tunes.

In other news, to all Being Human Fans (and those who need convincing). I believe this promo photo for S2 is relevant to your interests. No. Really. Or as Rai at work put it. 'Go away. This is not your computer screen. This is MINE.'

And somehow I've signed up for the august bank holiday AFP camping meet. Pratchett fans, real ale, musical instruments (the last two seem to be inevitable when the word 'Pratchett fans' is used) and fresh air. In Hay-On-Wye. Problem being how much stuff do I take, how much food, money, etc and... oh god. NO INTERNETS FOR FIVE DAYS, as the parentals pointed out.

Is there a website for the camping meet? Doubt I'll go, just intrigued in case I know anyone who wants to go

ah, sounds fun!

If I'd known about it sooner I'd have probably come along ... so probably best I didn't know. :-)

Was camping last weekend at Fairport's Cropredy Convention (folk festival) with a bunch of people who were quoting Pratchett, Adams etc. back and forth, as well as singing, playing guitars etc. so it's a fun thing to do for a weekend!

And I had internet access through both my phones (iPhone and Nokia) and through a 3-network 3G dongle for my laptop ... though we only used them to check sports scores and what times the bands were on-stage!

Me too. But I can't. I think there may need to be a 12 step group involved later....

That song has been stuck in my head with no sign of leaving.

She is a beautiful force for evil.

Stuff to take: I'd suggest travelling lightish: apart from clothes and essential camping equipment, you probably won't need much; some of the old CCDE hands who drive have a habit of bringing along all sorts of extra equipment like crockery and washing-up stuff; the campsite is a bit of a way from town, but not too far, which covers things like food and money; also, odds are pretty good that someone will be going there in a car at any given moment if the weather is lousy.

Other stuff is pretty obvious; if you're going canoeing, bring stuff that can handle getting damp; IIRC, we've got a spare 4-person tent if yours has broken, and since She Who Must Be Obeyed is driving, it's not as if you need to worry unduly about packing more than you can carry.

The one thing I would say is: pack some warm clothes. It should hopefully be warmer than last time (which was after all in the Peak District) - but it's still a good idea to have a warm jumper or two in case the night gets really chilly.
