Eternal report
Mar. 30th, 2004 07:23 pm:blinks: A very tiny con indeed. 130 people, not including guests.
Quick low-down on guests : Adrienne Wilkinson (Livia/Eve in Xena, and Flapper!Girl in the Angel ep where Angel and Faith tour his memories) is so damn funny it's not true. Also very good at pithy comments and answers to make you think about issues, as well as costumes splitting when you bend over on your first day. Hee!
Tracy Scoggins (Baylon 5, Cat in Lois and Clark) is possibly one of the biggest geeks I have ever seen. Walter Koenig guests on a show she's on. Her response is to ask him supremely geeky Trek questions after she's managed to regain control of her star-struck vocal chords. And also? It turns out my absolute favourite Cat line from L&C is an *adlib*. As in she came up with it on the spot. Scene being :
Lois has large vase of roses on desk.
Cat walks past (she's supposed to just keep walking in the script) and says 'Been sending flowers to yourself again Lois?' See audience collapse in the squee.
Also, many comments on the bitchiness levels on set between her and Teri Hatcher....
Ming will also die many a death for making me ask the chocolate sauce question when there was a gap in the proceedings. It's possibly the one time I've actually had people elbowing me and me collapsing in utter shame when asking it.
Laura Bertram (Trance in Anrdomeda) is as ever the wind-up bunny. She doesn't even need questions. Though I did manage to get her to re-tell the tail-fitting story. heh.
Possibly the weekend where I spent the least. No photos, didn't buy owt from teh dealers' room. And sharing with Tors and Andy and Alex is a tad scary, considering how much costuming got done and how much of a wreck the room looked at all times during the day due to said last minute costuming. We left it very neat, though. I was also introed to the concept of 'towel run'. Including the point on sunday where I was yanked back to the room and made to paint all the School of Rock logos and the trousers and kilt material. Introduced self to Maccy D's salads of the definitely not low-calorieness. Tasty, though.
Ming was robbed for not getting first place with his Monkey costume, though it's not his fault that Americans know nothing of Monkey and thus can't appreciate it fully. The Tink costume - in which I bounced, in character, I have discovered that if you pout, sulk, look evil or anything like that, you look perfectly in character. And in the costume parade, Ming was striding tall and I was bouncing, and someone's got a shot where I look like I'm elbow height on him due to being on the low part of the bounce. I'm still going to kill the tech crew for playing 'I believe I can fly' during my entrance.
Photos to follow.
Much discussion of X-Men with Alex, and Discworld, and giggling with Wendy as well as dancing like mad things at the disco, and one lad got dubbed stalker boy from the cocktail party onwards - and really didn't avail himself of that tag the rest of the weekend. Captain Britain and Meggan appears to be in my and Alex's future...
