Favourite genre show of all time, people. With a quick explanation. I'm not making you do your top five, because that's just *cruel*. Though you may add a couple of your favourite quotes.

Robin of Sherwood

Well, er... I've been a Robin Hood fan since I was a baby. And I'm also a big believer in historical productions having as much mud as possible, as well as cynical bastards everywhere. Nearly everyone in this is a cynical bastard. At times it's fucking hysterical, and has the greatest Sheriff of Nottingham (sorry Alan Rickman, you're fabulous, but you're just not as good as Nick Grace) and Guy of Gisburne and set of Merry Men *ever*. Single-handedly resulted in my love for Ray Winstone, one of the few of them to have a long-standing career, and coloured my perception of Robin Hood forever.

Quotes :

"It's a wedding Gisburne, not a cause for celebration."
~Sheriff, Alan a Dale.

"Do you like handsome men, ma petit?"
"Yeah. Do you know any?"
~Templar + Meg of Wickham, Little John's girlfriend - Two Poor Knights from Acre

I also have much love for Robin of Sherwood. It was the driving force behind me searching for and buying a modified DVD player that will play any region because I HAD to have Robin of Sherwood and I could only get them from the UK.

They all seemed like they were having so much fun with the parts and I think that contributed muchly to the show.

Have talked to the actors at RoS convention, and heard many a story about previous conventions... The actors were having *way* too much fun on that show. Tales of mudpits, practical jokes, things going wrong, all the adlibs and just from the gag reel, the amount of times the boys decide to burst into song is scary.

My perception of Robin Hood is all based on Maid Marian and her Merry Men.

Well, imagine a slightly more serious life threatening version. With a competent Sheriff. Maid Marian is basically a cross between RoS and the Errol Flynn version, with added comedic value. All black merry men - Barrington, Azeem, the one from the godawful aussie-shot tv show, etc - come from RoS, where they had a muslim arab as one of them.

I need a Barrington. And a Little Ron.

Er... wasn't it Bertrand de Neville, the Brabançon, who said that? ISTR the Templars making no improper advances in Seven Poor Knights From Acre, well, apart from threatening to burn the village down and hang people but that's Templars for you...
