I hate George Lucas' costume designer

Yes I do. Okay, so the Twi'lek slave girl dancer outfit is fairly simple. Except oddly, you feel more naked in it than you do in a bikini. I don't know why.
It's the bloody loincloth.
(said loincloth being piece of cloth strung between a piece of rope)
1) Why the hell would you put it on the outside? Have just been sewing an old pair of knickers into the inside to ensure comfort.
2) The waist height thing. This is, in fact, the most important part. There was a *reason* loincloths of antiquity were not waist height but instead, hip height. There is gapeage if you lean forward. They're bloody uncomfortable. Look at Leia's bikini outfit. That is at comfortable height.
ETA : Have found the studio reference shots for Oola. Which include profile headshots. There is a strap that goes under the chin, attached to the headband. Which means the tentacles will stay *on*.

Date: 2004-10-24 05:22 pm (UTC)Nearly all Farscape costumes are sexy, and comfortable. The costume designers decided that you had to be able to fight/move in them.
Lara Croft has been worn for eight hours at a time when clubbing by a mate.
I don't know if Cabaret counts as geeky, but the Liza Minelli one from that is not only comfy, but men and women will fall at your feet. (tried and tested)
Black Canary's fun, but is 1940s origin, so is one of those costumes based on real-world clothing.
