Unfortunately it's only xmas, but still....
Waterstones. There are books. Nice people to talk with about books. Managers who crack up at head office directives. A cheerful if busy atmosphere. Customers who do not behave as if it is their god-given right to act like arseholes. Who are, in fact, mostly v. nice.
My only problem is the hours, which are 7-11 and 3-6:30. (aka getting up at 5:30 am). reckon some days I'll be cycling in for first shift, then bus for the second. And some days I go cinema in my break. Which suits me fine. And. er. The temptation of the stock. Which is not as great as the temptation at Virgin - where they could guarantee how much of people's wages would be spent at the store, *so* much pretty.
But I was in the kiddy dept most of the day. Which has so many cool-looking books. And... and... oh god. Someone was asking for a title that was....
