Er... ironing.

Oh, and clearing half a tonne of comics off my hard drive and onto cd so I have space for things like movies and BSG eps and Stargate eps from the new series. Damn you [livejournal.com profile] mingmerciless! Tempting me with Claudia Black is *mean*! As is an ep where the first few minutes are Jack/Daniel oldmarriedcouple supremo pissiness! Now I have to watch the rest of this season so I know where I am when Ben Browder turns up next season...

Need to go waitrose for food.

Also, why the hell is the cosmetics/skincare industry geared towards using half a tonne of chemicals that in reality are no bloody good for our skin? Seriously. How much more difficult would it be for everything to not contain industrial grade chemicals? The amount of people out there with sensitive skin and allergies is *growing*, not lessening. You want to see all your market share taken up by people like Almay?

Seriously. I live in the zone of 'get that plaster away from me', hand cream that is good for babies upwards, foundation and mascara that makes my eyes run, yet am perfectly fine with most Boots products, including skin cream. I'm not completely hypersensitive, but... I get more sensitive by the fricking *day*. See problems with any jewellery that comes from Claire's Accessories.

Urg. Tell me about it. AND half of this crap doesn't keep your skin clean - if anything with the cement-mix chemicals in the damn stuff it causes more blocked pores and skin irritations than prevents 'em. Ick.

I did have a frightening moment in Boots the other week. Was looking for a new tube/bottle of liquid foundation and every last one I tried for my pasty, indoorsy, sunlight-what-the-hell-is-that? skin tone was... mild-orange.

10 mins on a tanning bed a week shade of mild-orange.

When I eventually found a bottle that wasn't kissed by the Sunny D, I put it back again - £15 for a bloody bottle of liquid make-up? FUCK. OFF.

As for Claire's Accessories - might sound a bit extreme - but I plunge any jewellery I get from there into boiling water for a couple of seconds then dunk 'em in liquid antiseptic before wearing. That seems to kill off most of the environment transfer from grubby hands (kids and staff), dusty packing boxes and being dropped on floors they only vacuum once a week.

Unfortunately for me it's the metal they use - hello green skin or skin that develops a rash, often both.

As for foundation - I got seduced by Benefit a while back, which is expensive but as I don't wear too much of it, and it lasts for fricking ever...

Which is why I would love to buy nothing but lush stuff for my skin :-/

Heh. Soap, soap, glorious soap. Now if only they did make-up...

It would be nice.

But at least their bubble bars, shampoos, conditioners and other stuff is yummy, vegetarian and safe.

Now just trying weigh up if I'd have caught more flak if I'd kept quiet about the Claudia Black episode... Still, it was pretty funny, especially for look on Daniel's face when the "Supersoldier" tells him he's very attractive!
