Or rather, not very much stuff.

Saturday was the day of the con nutters meet - 12 til... 9 I think it was? Food and geeking and more food and very little alcohol. Instead we were mostly on soft drinks, thus boosting the pub's profits. With Sean pouting about being in the states for the Serenity screening that he was organising for us as he took our names. [for those of you who didn't know about this? thpppppbt. Feb 8th, rough cut, no soundtrack and not all the effects done. *you* all have to wait til november.]

Last couple of days... bugger all done. Music videos of mediocre-ness, fic, going to post office to send comics to ebayers. Need to go through old issues to see which are in coherent order for selling. It's mostly space issues, but the money sort of helps. A bit. Applying for jobs.

Concluded that my Master and Commander love appears to have no bounds, as I can squee endlessly over it.

Contemplating making a Good Omens/Neverwhere/Discworld/Johnny Maxwell auto archive. Mostly because the majority of fic is on lj or scattered.

Making 'grrr' noises about a perfectly fine AU PotC-King Arthur present day crossover. I've been bouncing along enjoying the dynamics and the mostly Jack POV and the relationships and the slowly-moving Jack/James, and Lance's temper and Anamaria yelling and Galahad pouting... and then. Arrgh. The first part was PotC and set in the US. I think. It's music industry so exists within an unreal space as it is. The second part is the crossover, and oh dear god. She's just made a complete idiocy of commenting on the Guinevere/Tristan relationship, having Guinevere being under 18 and having the british characters worry about the statutory rape charge if the relationship gets out to the tabloids. See me very politely, citing laws, point out how fucking stupid this is. :whacks US authors round heads: 16! 16! It's 16! Get your facts straight!

Author's reply : Was definitely thinking of her being around 16 or so. She was a convenient way to make a point with Jack, so I just threw that in, especially since I'd earlier placed Liz as being in highschool only. There's also the factor of Tristan being her bodyguard rather than another celebrity to chum the waters a bit. Am undecided how old he'd be, but I'm sorry if it's not plausible for you.

I... actually had to refrain from slapping someone who I was in an RPG with a few months ago. She plays a British character (in fact, I think I ranted about her to you before), who gets involved with someone about ten years younger -- seventeen years old, to be specific. And initially had him angsting because everyone was saying he was SO EV0L OMG, and WAS HE BEING A DIRTY OLD MAN ANGST ANGST ANGST... at which point I got to step in and try not to be too horribly smug as I said "y'know, sixteen is the age of consent... and it's not at all unusual for people to have lost their virginity before that... so you could just write it as a simple cultural difference, which is why he's not understanding why the Americans he knows are freaking out."

I... have lots of rage directed towards this chick, for lots of other reasons. But seriously, if I'm an idiot American and the way you write a British character strikes me as off? Something's wrong.

I have such a long rant in store about that. I wouldn't write a character who was Japanese without reading up on Japanese culture, but for some reason, people assume that just because we speak the same language, the US and the UK (and Canada, and Australia, etc.) must all be the same. Er, no, kids, sorry.

*grumbles some more*
