I've managed to land myself on the Jedi Chefs website. Am not entirely sure if am proud or ashamed. (if you bother to look, I'm on the 'allies' page as Padme Amidala) Well, at least I'm not in a maid's outfit. Also flicking through photos of me with guests at cons over the years. Note to self part the umpteenth :
Always wear makeup.
When smiling, open mouth enough to show teeth. The 'heh' expression is your friend.
Best hair colour to be photographed with is reddish-blonde.
If not wearing casual bunches, sweep hair behind shoulders.
Dark-coloured (preferably navy) vests are your friend.
I also seem to have picked up a disturbing amount of cast shots of Daniel Jackson from Stargate.
Dr. Who, Father's Day? OMG. We love Jackie. And the squabbling between her and Rose's dad. Plus the Doctor chewing out Rose, plus telling Baby!Rose never to screw up space and time. Acting soooo good.
Witchfest - getting there for 8am was frickin' evil. It really was. But had to help with setting up stalls, so necessary. There was also the schools choir competition going on in another room, which was... scary to say the least. Hundreds of schoolkids and their parents! Eeeyagh! Some parents even complained to management about us being there and thus a bad influence on their kids. :raises eyebrow: Paul asked one set 'If it were a Moslem convention, would you be complaining?'.
There was Morris. Morris of the rags and black face, though this lot had added top hats and sunglasses, kids in the gear, plus girls in velvet raggy dresses and DMs. Very cool. Went to a class on learning how to dance it, and may I say it is bloody exhausting? No wonder Morris dancers only do it for 15 minutes at a time normally and drink vast amounts of beer and cider inbetween. At their final performance during happy hour at 7, they did a few, then turned round and grabbed everyone in the crowd they could see who'd been at the class and made us join in. Cue immense amounts of 'aggggh! How the fuck do you do the spinny thing again?'
Apparently all the other classes the others went to were of the good, saw two mates from RoS conventions, sold a lot of stuff, saw some gorgeous jewellery that was either too big (wrists of the tiny) or too expensive. Had authors signing at our stall, and may I say Kate West, who advocates extremely practical witchery (a silver athame is very nice, but if like most of us, you can't afford it, use the breadknife) is so Nanny Ogg it's not true.
Watched entertainment, drank a bit of mead, and then were knackered, so stumbled back to Jo's, where Kristen and I kept Jo awake by nattering while Kristen sewed the buckles onto her Selene corset.
Next morning, went Expo, which was my first one of those type. Rather odd, I must say - I can't believe people are spending that much just for an autograph. Individual ones at that. More fun in Q&As. Had way too much fun helping Jo with her Sikozu makeup (Need to be shiny along this bit, hang on, let me just get some of mine...) and gawped at the sheer amount of anime people, all of which goes straight over my head. Also : wrestling fandom. Wheh? Have also had my first acknowledged sighting of Brian Cooney. Also amused by one of the guests stealing Cathy's sword. But the sheer amount of Dealers? My god. I'm really, really glad that I have no desire to collect cards or signed stuff (my only signed stuff is the photos I get at conventions) otherwise there would have been pain. As it was, there were... er... two new Daniel Jackson photos. It's not my fault, really.

Date: 2005-05-17 09:07 am (UTC)And Padme Amidala is definitely not anything to do with Peter Pan. (don't know where you got that idea) She's Star Wars. Luke and Leia's mum, married Anakin Skywalker. See all the current hype going on for Episode III.
