stuff plus a translation
Jun. 2nd, 2005 03:48 pmFirst, does anyone know what the Korean surname 'Park' translates into English as? I'm just asking since the amount of times you can go 'Spot the Korean actor in the credits' by looking for 'Park'. Well, that and 'Kim'. Is it like the Polish Kowalski, which essentially translates as 'Smith'?
Other news. Going to see Guys and Dolls tonight, standing tickets, but still! EEEEEE! Ewan Mcgregor in swish suits and fedora! Girls in fabulous tailored outfits and little hats!
Finished Dazzler costume. All I need is a pair of skates - hopefully getting them off my mate so I don't have to shell out approx fifteen quid on ebay, seven of that being p&p.
Pride and Prejudice trailer. (link from http://empireonline.co.uk ) :thud: Keira. Matthew McFadyen. :thud: At one point they're *both* wet. At one point he has an open-necked shirt. (shush, this is Austen, you takes what you can get. Also tight trousers and riding boots are never a bad thing.) I.... :bites through fingers: Interestingly, the film is a lot more dingy and dirty and less polished than the BBC series. The Assembly Rooms in Mereton look more like a barn than the at least painted ones they used in the series, and there's a lot of shades of brown in this, rather than white and lots of colours. But still. :thud: Oh dear god, that was Judi Dench... and Donald Sutherland... and the gayest midget with a lot of despair/anger about him (depending on role) on this earth as Mr. Collins. Yes, we are talking about Tom Hollander. Why yes, I will be re-watching this so many times it's not true. Why do you ask? (incidentally, had a conversation with my mother where I was supporting claims about the economic and social situation of Mr. Bingley with turns of phrase Austen used. And she pointed out that it's disturbing since I've never even read the book, just gobbled the tv series.)
