Guys and Dolls
Jun. 3rd, 2005 01:27 amUtterly, utterly fantastic. Immensely funny, great singing and dancing and staging, and Ewan? Mmmm. He needs to do more in fifties gear, he really does, because it suits him v. well. Has also had singing lessons since Moulin Rouge, since there were notes that boy was hitting which he so could not in that film. Also rather nice dancing during 'Luck be a Lady Tonight' - there appear to be a lot of songs/phrases in this that I knew from elsewhere. All songs rather fabulous. And the Havana club scene? :wibble: There was dancing, there was funnies, there were fucking gorgeous dancers who could do mid-air splits and keep it like that, the actress playing Sarah - Jenna Russell - was fabulous in her literally being pulled and manipulated into dancing, as they'd tug and she'd be basically swung into the move, all the time looking like she was being hauled and had *no* idea what she was doing. Plus Ewan in this. Mmm. They did tango. I have no defenses against that. Also a great, utterly great bitchfight between her and the sexy dancer.
Jane Krakowski as Adelaide was brilliant. and hysterical. And oooo, legs.
Ran for exit and stage door in record time - and there was already a crowd of autograph seekers there. Scary. We queued, got photos of Ewan and autographs. He's a very lovely, nice boy who stayed signing for a half an hour until everyone who wanted an autograph got one. We then stayed for Jane Krakowski and the rest of the cast, because Jo and Cathy? Biiiiig fangirls of Jane. Who is also nice, and we gibbered and made devoted noises.
Have also discovered that ushers, sound guys and security people do not say no to smarties.

- that would be a very happy Jo on the left there.
Oh, and the evil that is the Dazzler costume : the cuffs have since been done, and rollerskates will be acquired.
