First : I am half-way through HBP, having been out all weekend. And my god, JKR has discovered the concept of an editor! definitely better for it.

Kung Fu Hustle is fucking hysterical for the first half, but unfortunately, the second half becomes fairly standard chop-socky with added Bruce Lee impression and Chosen One stuff. Dammit. But worth renting for the first half if nothing else. saw several good trailers of the bloke-ish sort - The Business by the makers of The Football Factory looketh good. Came out to see the midnight queues outside the bookshop. Blinked, having completely forget about said openings and restrained self from joining, due to having pre-ordered.

Dressed in Gryffindor cheerleader costume, sorrowfully having to leave my postie-delivered copy of HBP behind on Saturday morning. Wandered along to Waterstones to see exactly what Ghlas looked like in the Dumbledore costume he'd told me about, to find him having immense fun stroking his beard. Then he told me to stay outside with two of my mates from saturday shiftdressed in hat and cloaks and grin and have photos taken, ignoring my wails of 'But I no longer work here!'. Bagged many a tourist with Sorting Hat.

Went town, then went to see what was on - decided on The Producers as had good stalls seats. Was amazing, really good singing, acting, choreography, etc, etc. Mel Brooks has *so* redeemed himself post the last few films (I count everything from Spaceballs onwards as slowly getting worse shite). There's nothing like the sight of a chorus of grannies doing somersaults and tap routines with their walkers. And Springtime for Hitler... if they can do it half as well in the film, I'll be cheering madly.

Onwards to Croydon for [livejournal.com profile] andromakie's leaving do, where he took the opportunity to interrogate Liz's new boyfriend, who has been deemed lovely and worthy by everyone, and can match us for con stories with his LARPing. Got many a stare from the rest of the pub due to costume, and gave the glare of death (tm) to the twat who called me a Power Ranger. There was also the 1-10 rating of people in the group on the gay scale, with clarification for others that Captain Jack was a perfect 5.

Went on to gay club/pub at other end of Croydon, which was very quiet and tiny, where much fun dancing was to be had until the lesbians showed up. Not enough room to dance enough, everyone was knackered, and wails issued forth of 'dammit, we're going to have to stick with bisexuals, what is it with dykes that they have this urge to look like *ugly boys*? We like *pretty girls*!'

Also had the classic of having to run back and forth from the car to get our ID to show the doorman and then run back to put it back, only having money on us - the others are blaming me as I was wearing bunches and the cheerleader outfit.

Back at Jo's, me, Taz and her collapsed into bed and watched De-Lovely - Kevin Kline as Cole Porter and his relationsip with his music and wife. Lovely, tuneful, great performances, plus John Barrowman. Quieter and less sensational than most biopics therefore critics disliked.

Rest later.
