Computer has died. Mum reckons it's the fan and power source, not the hard drive, which makes sense - it's been overheating regularly recently. She's going to take it to the vet to get it repaired this week, so hopefully it'll be happy and nice when I get back from Edinburgh.

Currently at work. Edinburgh tomorrow. And it is fucking freezing outside.

You arrive at 3pm, right?

And hard drive death normally involves horrible grinding noises and worrying messages on bue backgrounds, so fan and power is more likely Had you cleaned the fan out recently?

As far as I know, there's only the one at edinburgh. If the sign says glasgow, you've gone too far. :g:

Two stations - Waverley and Haymarket. You'll be wanting Waverley which is the city centre one. As someone else said, walk up the ramps where the taxis go and then turn right onto Princes St, saves going up the masses of stairs.

Haymarket. I thought there was a second, but couldn't quite remember or find out briefly in searching. Was looking at accomodation around there for the fringe, but just about managed to get something in the centre without having to sell internal organs.

Edinburgh waverley, apparently. if it's the one that has a load of bloody of stairs to haul the case up to get onto the street, it's the centre-city one.

Yes, that's the one. But...

Follow the taxis - there is a path running alongside the road, and you don't have to go up any stairs.

It will bring you out here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Waverley+Bridge,+City+of+Edinburgh,+EH1&spn=0.006677,0.021832&hl=en). You can then turn right for Princes street, or left for High Street (although Cockburn is bloody steep - looping back round Princes street and over North bridge is longer but has fewer requirements for crampons).

BTW - did you see the comment I placed against the Dr. Who post yesterday?

Yes, Waverley is the main (only?) station in Edinburgh - adjacent to Princes Street. Good luck with finding your way out of the station!! (it's not quite as easy as it first appears - there is a tendency for signs to point in one direction and then promptly disappear. Main hint is to follow the exit for the Taxis - that will bring you out to the road just off of Princes street, heading towards the Royal mile. If all else fails, you can phone for directions!).

Are you going by GNER? I'll wave as you go past if you do...

What's bringing you up to Edinburgh - are you braving Princes St on Saturday night?

We were commanded by [livejournal.com profile] celiaka since 3 of us have birthdays around that time and we haven't gone to see her yet.

I've made it a habit to be in Edinburgh for either Hogmanay or my birthday (and sometimes both) since I first went to uni there. This will be the first year I haven't actually managed it.

I do seem to have a knack of bumping into people I know at the street party, though. 250,000 people and I regularly bump into at least one person I knew at university, when I can't even find someone I recognise in a crowded pub when I'm looking!
