1-0 and some very nice footwork throughout the match? That'll do nicely, my son. the 1,999th goal of the World Cup. 2,000, I quote the commentators : Swedes need not apply.

Eeep. Owen down in first minute due to knee ligaments? Ack. Not that he's been doing that much, but the less injuries the better. Also, if Lampard scores today, it would be a nice birthday pressie for the boy. Sven/Rooney/Bobby Robson/choice of deity knows he's had enough tries at goal in the last few matches.

:sigh: Am stuck in flat with people who don't like footie and am relegated to their bedroom. Send help.

My heart just sank when Michael went down. Thank God for our goalscoring midfield!

I think they should have sent Walcott on when Rooney came off- the last twenty minutes of a game that won't take you out of the cup if you don't win, that's when you try a new player.

Especially if you're short of strikers, Owen's off with an injury and Rooney's off at 70 minutes because he's still not quite match fit. They should have brought Walcott on then. Leaving it just means that when they do bring him on, it'll just be for desparation, and that's not good for anyone.

Except, maybe, the opposing team.
