We're never going to beat Sweden, are we?
And how much of an annoyance is it that our two goals were glorious achievements of great football (with added Gerrard and Joe Cole, very nice talented boys) and both of theirs were due to our defence completely fucking up?
Still, at least there's no Germany 'til later. They'll have to wait until the quarters or semis to knock us out. Place your bets now, do we get knocked out at the quarters or semis?
And in other news - I believe I :gasp: spotted an actual pair of *black* boots. In this tournament? are they taking the piss? And I believe it was on one of the Swedish players that plays on a Premiership side, too. Have they no shame? Think of the children! Think of the football sponsors!
Following on from that, it appears Umbro picked the teams that have a cross as a large part of their flag, and said 'we're designing their kit! Hands off!' Nike's shirt design this year is frankly shite (I pass Niketown every day. First I saw it, it was ugly. When I went inside to look for sports gear it got even uglier. On the players it looks worse. Come on, Nike, you did really well on the rugby gear...). Adidas's is somewhat snazzy and swish, with a touch of old skool (see Trinidad for example). Umbro are going for subtle and droolable. I vote Umbro for best shirt design so far.

Date: 2006-06-21 09:41 am (UTC)You know, these were my thoughts exactly...and I'm German. *waves a friendly Hallo*
I was watching the game with two English blokes, cheering for you guys of course (hey, no hard feelings about '66 or that 5:1 game...) and you're right, England would have totally deserved it to win..
Now go and beat Ecuador; we'll see each other in the semi final!
