Every time, I forget. You go in there, you leave sans soul. It sucks your will to live entirely, even when not on mission for very specific things.
I went in for box-type things that would also be storage to shove under bed in the new place. Camden! Eeee! (though don't talk to be about hiring van for moving. Arrrgh. Haven't done it yet.) Unfortunately, I hadn't got the precise measurements off the girl who was leaving, so went round and did a beady eye on all stuff that looked good, taking heaight measurements. Eventually her flatmate got home and got out the measuring tape and... oh christ. 27 cm. Understand that the majority of loose storage stuff in Ikea is at *least* 30cm. More like 35-37cm. Dithered a bit, then went back and forth up the travelator thingy and went 'fuck it, I'll get the sturdy 35cm stuff that's also the largest, stuff it at the end of the bed, it's at least moderately stackable, and get one of the smaller trays for under'. Which I have done. And eyed such things as that wavey wall mirror they have for 7 quid. Will get later. Not entirely essential right now.
Also, the bedroom set up thingies they have are bad for me. I now lust after a studio flat. I have no idea why. Also, I should not be looking at findaproperty.com before I've even moved into the new place. Studio flats for 105 quid pw in central london. :drools: :smacks hand: Wait until september, bitch. When the weak have been weaned from the new student crowd and the convention season is over. Y'know, the time when you have this thing called 'money'?
Mostly finished the Six dress for Galactica - need to put a couple of stitches into the centre to hold the crossover point, and a couple of poppers into the neck fastening. Tit tape will be required for this dress, because I do not relish accidentally popping out. (for those who want images, it's 2x17, 24 minutes in. Yes, *that* one. The one with no stomach.) :sigh: I really should have gone with the black sweetheart neckline one, or the red cowl-neck one. Because I'd not have had to make the entire thing pattern-free. Or worry about tit-tape. Still, it's... eye-catching, and gave me my first experience of working with silk. Although it frays like a fucker, it falls wonderfully and feels fantastic on. Also doesn't snag when pinning and sewing and shaping.
In other news, looking for a ridiculously flouncy shirt from a charity shop. I have a skirt that'll do, I have the hair naturally, I can scrounge up a wine glass/cocktail glass in about two second for 30p from the charity shops on goodge street, I just need a shirt to go with it. I want an excuse to stumble around the convention drunkenly, groping cute boys, alcohol always at hand, and acting like a complete bitchy lush. I want to be Ellen Tigh.
wiccachik is to blame.
