Have been filling the balcony and main living room windowsill with potted plants. Flatmates are going 'huh' and 'looks nice' and then watering them. :g: (have also established self as person who brings home things like washing lines and lemon squeezers. Currently eyeing a kitchen knife in sainsburys. Ours is tiny and going blunt.)

Ivy and a ficus (ficus moving indoors come cold weather, unless anyone knows if these things can survive a british winter - I've mostly seen them advertised as houseplants) on the balcony, two mini roses, basil and flat-leaved parsley indoors.

Water them when the soil feels dry. Which for most of them, works out as every other day. However, slightly confuzzled about a couple - specifically, the roses and the ivy. Is it just the potted version that sucks up water at twice the rate of other plants? At home, potted plants are a rarity, due to my mother managing to kill them on a regular basis if they're indoors. (outdoors, rabid gardener, ends up with such towering monstrosities as the Mexican Orange bush that is known by the rest of the family as 'Jabba', due to size, shape, and swallowing of other things whole)

Also, feeling slightly sick due to chocolate milk. blegh. But it's a self-indulgent blegh of three glasses that also included one chocolate brownie cake with extra icing. I need to stop doing this to myself, I know perfectly well that I always feel vaguely queasy after rich cakes. (meringues, fruit and mousse on the other hand, I can eat until the cows come home)
