slightly behind my target (which is to be a day to 2 days ahead) due to not having much access to writing tools, but currently in the comfort zone, which is scenes blocked out and in the notepad, so all I have to do is expand and witter. Ellie's due to meet Dandini.
Friday night went to parents to get winter clothing and they drove up sat morning (fortunately v. little traffic, which for central london is effing amazing) so they could get the desktop. Fast extraction, mum rather amazed that I'd got everything off the comp already, and she cooed over my laptop something chronic. Dad doing dismissive sounds about not needing various bits until I waved the usb wireless key in his face and explained what it was. Upon which point he went 'Mine!'. He's rather amused over my Noel Coward kick. (I'm pondering if the flatmates are starting to get sick of it - that and Hans Zimmer and tango music are what's emanating from my laptop while I sit in the living room typing.)
Had belated Hallowe'en party on sat night (had been scheduled to not clash with another party which got cancelled). Fun, mates chatting, etc. My only problem was pre-party. None of my costumes fit. Any of them. (apart from Teyla, and I've got to re-make the top anyway) Especially the Absinthe Fairy, as that had been made to fit perfectly. Pulled it on, it felt a little loose - then I tried to do it up. Handfuls of material at the back. Bodice being in completely the wrong place for my tits. Handfuls of material over the arse, which was the real bugger, since that took ages to pin and adjust to fit properly. Arrrgh. Dug out peasant skirt, another one for a petticoat, it being bloody cold, a bodice for somethign else, and a white shirt, and went as Every Other Hammer Horror Victim (tm). Which got a lot of laughs. Special mentions to Dario as Ash (with oversized anime chainsaw), soon to be seen with his own gardening business, Chewie as Dr Jonathan Crane (Batman Begins version), presenting the problems of trying to drink beer through a scarecrow mask (solution : use a straw), and Clare in a cute pink princess outfit. (for the uninitiated, lare normally wears the type of stuff associated with Hallowe'en, so seeing her doing 'cute pink princess, with added ringlets and bows' is enough to send a shudder through most people).
Sunday morning, it has been revealed that Slooy is a sadist. All those crashing in the living room were woken by him putting the cartoons on. At 8:30 am. Bastard. Though they were pretty good once you got into them. That and Angel eps - sci-fi does them in blocks, so we got the Evil Hand ep and the Harmony ep. Yay, Lindsey singing! Also? quite funny to see Angel grovelling and not quite hard bastard Wesley. (Hard bastard Wes appears properly in the Pylea eps). Also, Wes attempting to stake Harmony for defacing a book was hysterical. All of us were going 'remind me, is this the ep - ooo, I'd forgotten this bit was in here!'. Considering we were all hardcore BtVS/Angel people a couple of years ago but realised we haven't watched most eps in a good few years.
