Spent part of the day surfing for pics of ivy and alphonse mucha images for tattoo to mail to tattoo artist so he can come up with an image for my back.

Nano is finished as of last night, though the ending may feel rushed due to not being nearly as wordy as the rest. It's over at [livejournal.com profile] darkisrising, in chronological order due to being written that way. [livejournal.com profile] ruthi, if you read this, tell me what you think. it'll be edited for the godawful spelling sometime later.

Watched Pride and Prejudice since I'd been promising myself it since I started. Glad to see that the dances at Netherfield (ie, the posher ones) are how I remember.

Someone needs to kill my Mary Sue Bunnies. They've gone and gone all melodramatic on me. Even more so than usual. Most disturbing. :kicks one of them: (for those not in the know, I use my Mary Sue universe to work out all the really *bad* impulses in fic. It has a habit of reading like Chick-lit with added Mills and Boon.)

Went to see Casino Royale with flatmate. (If you lose track, I have three flatmates) BEST EVER BOND. BEST EVER FILM OF ENTIRE SERIES. Action sequences. Daniel Craig. Verper being cooler than the majority of Bond Girls. Casino. Daniel Craig. The Aston Martin. MI6 working away in background. Script of fucking fabulous sniping and one-liners. There's one near the end that had nearly every girl in the place choking in laughter. Daniel Craig. Flatmate and I spent film squeebling, and then discussing just how damn cool the film was when we got out.

I only have two quibbles. The title sequence was cool, but not as cool as it could have been, song kind of average. (soundtrack on other hand was beautifully done). And Mads Mikkelsen doesn't clean up as well as you'd think. From now on I demand that he remain scruffy. He's far sexier like that.

don't worry, no spoilers, just omg so fucking fantastic.

only doing spelling at moment since suspect could not be objective enough to go through it without screaming 'arrrgh' and editing it down to one page, since i know it's crap and several scenes would have to be changed round, revised, etc etc...

I went to a midnight premiere last Thursday, and when we got the first look at the Aston Martin, you could hear every guy in the cinema making noises of 'waaaaaant'. And also cringing during the torture scene.

Re: Best Bond, GOD YES, THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING. My best friend is skeptical, and I'm obviously just going to have to drag her along to see it, because. SO GREAT.

Did you have a specific Mucha in mind? A friend of mine (the one who doesn't want to see CR, but we'll forgive her that for the moment) has one as a tattoo; I can ask her where she got the image she used for it.

It's more using Mucha's style for the ivy - heavy outline and detailed inner - though I do find it funny that the best ones of his work, and the most complete collection, I've found is on allposters.com.

And mmm, Aston martinnnnnn.... I think it's been programmed into the male psyche of the western world. But did you see the messing up of the other luxury cars at one point? For they are INFERIOR to the prduct placement ones. Oh yes. I'm currently telling all workmates 'gogogogogogogogogogo!'

Now I think of it, actually, she's been bugging us all for designs she could do, since her boss wants her to keep coming up with them. I'll tell her, if you're still looking for something, and she can see about coming up with a design.

What size were you thinking? Big backpiece, or ass antlers, or across the shoulders, or something?

Also, your journal has turtles. I approve.

long trail of ivy down the spine. He wants pictures, plus pictures of my back, plus measurements so he can work something out that fits.

(and one of my mates who does fantasy pictures has demanded that as soon as it's healed, I model for him.)

Does this person have a website, or some other way of perusing his work? I may have something for him to do.

every time I see darkisrising I start thinking about the prophecy from the Susan Cooper Dark is Rising series - trust you to ruin it for me

All references to 'Dark is Rising' should always make you think of the prophecy from Susan Cooper. Always.

Agree with all you've said about Bond. Loved it especially the way they did the traditionaly shooting through the eye bit at the beginning and the very well executed final line. Did you spot Richard Banson's cameo? The only thing that really grated for me was the finger sucking and the extremely clunky product placement. Wonder how much Virgin, Sony and Ford payed?

This is Bond! Product placement is the entire name of the game! counting the product placements are part of the drinking game! (me + flatmate : 'Product placement!' everytime there was something obvious) If you got to the site, there's a whole subsection devoted to its sponsors. Though we still find it amusing that Smirnoff is the vodka that has to have its label up front and centre since it's been sponsoring it since Dr No. As if Bond would ever drink *smirnoff*, especially red label smirnoff. (we believe he's more of a grey goose man) Mind you, looking through the sponsors? Aston Martin must be grinning all the way to the bank since 1962, since it's not a sponsor yet you have to have an Aston Martin in the film. oh, and since Sony are producing/paying for the film, they have licence to put as many mobiles as possible in there. Though I did feel smug because my Vaio is actually a more advanced model than Bond's.

and yes, I did spot Richard Branson (me + flatmate : ...was that Richard Branson I just saw?) Finger sucking I quite liked since interestingly it didn't feel at all sexual.
