Barrowman Christmas Concert

:happy sigh: Just... gorgeous. Helen and Matt Rawle great as well. We maintain that the entire reason Helen sang Popular was so that John could react to the 'I'll show you the proper poise, how to to talk to boys, little ways to flirt and flounce' line. John's very shy and retiring, really he is...
You *so* must listen to the concert on BBC2 on the 22nd.
some christmas, some musical, once again so thudding at 'What I did for Love'. Though 'You're nothing without me' which him and Matt duetted on, and I'd never heard, was way too much fun.
John doing 'The Wizard and I' ? Suddenly the song, which when sung by Elphaba, is completely about admiration of a distant hope, takes on... um... extra meaning. Though 'this gift or this curse' line as sung by John... huh. interesting. Though couldn't help giggling over the 'shouldn't a boy who's so good inside have a matching exterior'. John singing about looking ugly just ... :g: sorry, does not take.
Once again we got 'I Am What I Am.' Awwww. Watching him sing it just gives you the happies so much.
Second half. John makes a comment, certain members of the audience start laughing. He pointed out the rest of the audience that our row have filthy minds. If you hear some rather filthy laughter when it's on radio? Er, that was us. Specifically
miniosiris and
clothsprogs. Nowt to do with me and Taz.
Saw
alysscarlet again. Also Graham turned up, and he never bloody said he was going. Introed him to rest of crew, I swear him and Cathy can be just as geeky as each other sometimes.
:shudder: Revenge of the fangirls who think it's their right to have full access to John at the stage door. I swear one girl got four photos of him, kept shoving in whilst john was trying to be nice and get to everyone.
Had a 'you know you know to much about this person' moment. 'Hm. Is that - No, it's not Scott, but it does look a bit like him from behind.' 'Oh, it's his parents! Hi, Merry Christmas. They were sitting behind me (Cathy) during the concert.'
Met George the webmaster of JB.com, failed to convince him to publish the photo he got with the Spamalot crew. Dammit. Lovely bloke, really he is.
But mmmm. Great night.

Date: 2006-12-23 01:16 pm (UTC)It was good to see you on Monday - and yes, we COULD hear your dirty laugh on the Radio 2 recording!
I agree with you about John's version of 'The Wizard and I' - the lyrics did take on a different meaning when he sang them...
I went round to the stage door, saw the melee, and decided to go home. I have spoken to John (at the cabaret last year) under more civilised circumstances, and I just couldn't cope with this! How long did it take him to get through everyone???

Date: 2006-12-24 11:37 pm (UTC)About ten minutes once John came out. Fast at signing is our boy, and we stayed until he walked off with his parents as we were saying goodbye to a few other people. But we really need to kick the fans who don't seem to think common courtesy applies to them.
