After being handed a flyer, I decided to go out for the night to Metro. As my social life is, well, non-existent most weeks. Turned out to be a bunch of bands of the indie/rock persuasion, all of whom were Irish in keeping with the theme. And were apparently popular, since everyone else in the club was a fan and knew the songs. (Pilotlight, The Furniture Store, Pocket something or others, Ideamotion, if anyone's familiar with 'em. Got chatting to one of the Ideamotion guitarists when he was coming round getting people to sign up to the mailing list.)

I appeared to be one of the few non-Irish people in that entire club, not counting the staff. I kept getting asked if I was Irish (to which the answer is 'my great-grandma was, but I somehow doubt that counts' - they tended to agree with me). Most odd, since my previous St Patricks' experiences have been half Irish, half everyone else.

Appears my appreciation for indie/rock has gone downhill. One of those situations where you can tell that they were all pretty good, and several of the tunes were good to bounce along with, but... no longer my cup of tea. At all.

It's at this point I think I need to blame Cole Porter. And then pet my latest play.com delivery, which consists of Grease 2, Topsy-Turvy (making of the Mikado), Pirates of Penzance (Kevin Kline version), and the original Sunset Boulevard.
