Seriously, some parts of fandom : WTF?

I thought it was just a Stargate thing. I first saw them at one of those cons, displayed on a table as a hobby, thought it was mildly amusing, but... I've seen them in other fandoms since, dressed up as the characters. And it turns out people ask stars to pose with them and I... argh. I can't honestly decide whether this falls into category of 'RUN AWAY! I may be obsessed but the obsession doesn't go into that bloody category!' or quirk that I'm vaguely uncomfortable with because I view soft toys as kid-things that you should not be bloody trailing around in public when you've passed the age of puberty. We have the orangutang and Moominpapa hanging around the house because they're funny more than anything. Bought when adults for a laugh.

but one thing, fandom : stop bloody referring to them as real things. Makes you sound just this side of 'We think he's a very naughty boy, don't we, miss Jane?'

i was scared when a woman called Jo...largish and i think a little special was introducing me to her Daniel bear at my 1st SG con last year....i mean i'm used to the 2 headed one Jimmy has i guess but it's does freak me out when i see people who are in the *special* catagory though your not 100% sure they are or not, with bears and they want you to talk to them as if they are real and i just want to say no you freak go away and get that stuffed thing outta my face........saying that we do have ducks...in the photo shoots....

yeah, but we don't intro the ducks as real people. The ducks are a running joke, like unto the chefs.

"Mr Flibble's very cross..."

I am declaring General Oz exempt from the 'things you should not be trailing around in public after you've hit puberty' list because he's damn cool.

Yep, special people with special bears are a bit odd, but scarier are the ones who aren't special. They just love bears. Talking to them, dressing them up, taking them for walks, shoving them in photos with guests....

Nope, I don't get the bear thing either.
