 Once again, I've committed 'obsessing about mundane food' in a fic. This time, we had people at Torchwood swearing vengeance when there weren't enough mushy peas for everyone. The Fry's Turkish Delight thing in a previous bit was a throwaway joke because I needed a bog-standard branded confectionary that was around in the period I'm writing this particular bit (late 20s-early 30s), and I got rather pouty about discovering Kendall Mint Cake wouldn't be around until the fifties. Cadbury's website's 'history of the company' timeline most helpful.

Still, at least I'm 900 words ahead of target. Slightly more comfy than the bare 300 words cushion I was previously operating on. Still, it would be nice to actually start getting somewhere in the plot.

On the other hand, I am wondering about the [livejournal.com profile] robinhoodbbc lot. In the last couple of weeks they've started using the 'eyebrow porn' tag for any pwps. Except it was originally a 'nooooo, I have no idea what you're on about' tag. (my tags have specialised names. We have such gems as poetry that is not quite vogon, here beta beta, a clue:no and treeporn.) Weird people.

Curious--what does "bog standard" mean?

incredibly, normally standard, so average and common to the point that's it's boring. no, i have no idea why 'bog' - I can't imagine toilets or peat swamps being classed as very, very normal.
