Dear flist, I come to you with a problem. The question of RPF/RPS has raised its head on the Robin Hood comms I run (all the main ones for the fandom). Currently, there's a steady split between the 'kill it with fire' people at 48% and the 'don't give a toss' and 'yes' brigade. however, even amongst the ambivalent lot there's a bit of a split between 'just lock it and paste warnings on it like you do for the BDSM/incest/any sex scenes involving the Sheriff as long as it stays strictly Robin Hood cast' (off-topic always, always gets deleted) and the 'I don't read it, but I'd prefer it on a different comm' types.

I stated that I didn't care either way as long as it was locked and had warnings.

Some people have pointed out that there's probably going to be so little that it'll only appear once in a blue moon so a new comm would be like unto a ghost town.

You lot have more experience, some of you run comms and I know a good proportion of you read a lot of RPF/RPS.

The only thing that worries me is that several of the commenters proposing a new comm seem to be expecting *me* to create it. er, *what*?

Sticking by my original assessment. As a reader of RPS, I go looking for it in RPS comms - footie/PotC/TG etc. I don't expect general fandom comms to have it, so if I was looking for RH RPS I wouldn't go to [livejournal.com profile] robinhoodbbc anyway.

Also I reckon it's the responsibility of whoever's got the fic to set up a comm for it if they see the need for an outlet.

If I can cope with bandom eating my flist without giving in to the urge to stab people in the eyeballs, people can cope with the occasional bit of RPS in their comm.

Although if it does get to be high volume, twist the most-frequent poster's arm and make them create a comm specially for it.
