Seriously, there has got to be a way to angle the conversation away from a lecture on cheating, unfaithfulness, relationship angst, etc, etc at lunch. conversation even goes slightly towards that and we get the lecture. maybe next time I should take along the recording device, and if they start it up again, I hit 'play' to drown them out. Just because your parents are screwed up when it comes to relationships does not mean you have to go into a complete diatribe with added references to your deadbeat dads. Them. Not you. And it's the same one every time.

My other option being to put the headphones in and ask them to say when they've finished. Or get up and leave. Impolite, maybe, but less grating on my eardrums and would enable us to get out in the sun faster, because the two who do it most slow down their eating to do the lecture. We have other stuff to do.
