Good, solid plotting, decent dialogue, good acting, explosions, everyone was doing their jobs - yes, I know, you watchers of S1, stop hyperventilating in the back there - and...um...

oh dear god. Ianto.

Someone said that S2 writers were begging to play with Ianto. Boy did they mean it. This ep was dry quip city, and boy has that lad got over the angst and rats in the stomach thing - maybe this is what he'll be revealed to have been like pre-Battle of Canary Wharf. Seriously, seriously funny and droll with a quip for every occasion.

Everything from stuff like telling Jack that he was menacing, honest, to 'we do not sniff the ionising helmet technobabble' to the 'and just when i thought the end of the world couldn't get any worse' to imitating being in an electric chair and the fact that the phones don't work will include tin cans with string to ... um... character makes comment about Jack's bedside manners being terrible. Gwen comes back with 'his manners in bed are pretty terrible - I mean, um...' and then Ianto *confirms this fact* before Jack shushes him.

Also : Tosh : sexier in office wear than anyone actually has a right to be. The things that woman does to a pencil skirt are obscene.

I agree heartily. New series Ianto with his sense of humour is really quite fantastic. Well done, writers, for remembering that he is there and he should have a personality.

Also quite fond of that "fangirls in a vat" description; it's an amusing image.
