...Graham is evil. Jerry Herman birthday concert May 4th. Angela Lansbury and Barbara Cook announced so far for the line-up. Or as he put it, 'whoops, I appear to have booked tickets, how *did* that happen?'

(which doesn't quite compete for twisting of arm that [livejournal.com profile] andromakie once did, which was the Sondheim birthday concert, where we looked at the cast announced, she picked up my mobile, dialled the number, pressed 'dial' and handed it to me and then glared.)

Then Graham notes that it's a CRUSAID event and goes 'hmm, I wonder who could *possibly* get booked for this. CRUSAID... who do we know that turns up at CRUSAID events at the drop of a hat... no-one we know, *surely*. Chances of Scott and Gavin?'

Also, me and Lissy have discovered that doing 60s girl group backing singer actions to 'Rehab' is WAY too much fun. And oddly, completely intuitive since we did perfectly synchronised motions without having to confer.

Watched first five minutes of Being Human on iplayer. my love, it knows no bounds.

To be honest I don't really see John appearing at that event unless he's singing. It's not that long after the tour will have ended and he'll be heavily into searching for Olivers and Nancy's at that point.

He wasn't at the WoS awards at the weekend when Gavin and half of the Josephs were there. He likes to support his charities but he does like to perform or be the centre of attention at the same time (like the Cinderella gala) and I think he knows with Angela Lansbury and Barbara Cook on the same bill he won't really be the focus of attention. Unless they offer him something juicy like a duet with one of them I don't see it as terribly likely - he's rather moved beyind the point of being the guy who shows up to do one song - he's in a whole other league now.

Well I haven't a clue who Barbara Cook is.

Ah but the musical theatre types do! Her, Lansbury and Herman on the same stage should mean it will sell out.

...dammit. I was hoping for an all-star whatsit like the Sondheim gala from a couple of years ago where he did Being Alive as the end song. (and Eartha Kitt and Millicent Margaret were on *that* bill)

I think he's past the point of pitching up for one song even though I'm sure he'd love to meet Jerry Herman but give him a juicy enough role and he'll be there. Duet with Cook or Lansbury, or a hefty featured performance and I'm sure he'd go for it. But from the way its being advertised I rather assumed that Angela and Barbara would be backed by good but lesser "stars" in the way that Cooke was at her concert earlier this year.

If I get a chance (which is unlikely) I'll ask him on Saturday.

I was right and you wanted to go. so :P

I wish I could go see Angela Lansbury sing. I saw her do a play last year and she was awesome! She's doing something in NY on April 7 and I am not going. Not even when there's a benefit the night before that Julia Murney will be at. Not even then. I need to win the lotto.

I did enjoy Sunday, it was fab. And I saw the movie of Hairspray, but I have not heard the recording. The music isn't much to my taste.
