dad-bonding and other things
Mar. 24th, 2002 01:11 amGot home from pizza hut with various persons from work to find Dad watching a programme on how various number ones are achieved - the good cause (Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas), the crass marketing (Spice Girls Wannabe), the devil sent me method (Iron Maiden's Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter), God (Cliff Richard in all forms), Eurovision (Abba's Waterloo) Levi ads (Stiltskin, Babylon Zoo, Marvin Gaye's Heard it Through the Grapevine). Aside from the interest of finding out that Stiltskin were actually put together *after* the ad was written to have a band for the song - christ, I went to a signing of theirs - was the amount of times me and Dad, both keen commentators on and consumers of pop culture, said the exact same words in response to something. It seems I am definitely my father's daughter...
My brother phoned me this morning pre-work. It turns out some mates of his who have a band want some photos done, and they asked if he knew anyone. He said his sister was a photographer, directed them to my portfolio site as well as the normal one, and apparently they not only like my photography, they like my digital stuff, too. I have tentatively said yes. The payment - film costs and Smirnoff Ice. Here's hoping it'll be an experience.
