They're reporting that obama's planning to allow the various states to set their own emissions targets - good, bad, insignificant? (obviously some states will be utterly draconian and some go 'all hail the great god pollution')

<-- still happy about the gag rule. Because yay less deaths from lack of funding, botched abortions and death in childbirth... (I'd love to see the stats on that. Are there any studies on the difference in the female death rate when abortion is made legal?)

Eh. This is likely a bone thrown to the conservatives since he took away the poor babies' gag rule and Gitmo. It's less oriented towards pollution in and of itself than demonstrating that he respects states' rights, would be my guess. Significant in that regard, not great in the actual pollution thing, but there will be plenty of states whose people recognize the need for stringent standards, so not terrible, either. And I do suspect that he'll make climate change a major issue later, so hopefully we'll get something better further down the road.

(Also: the First Lady. She needs to wear peacock blue ALL THE DAMN TIME, because guh.)
