Got call from Steph, decided to see what was on. Narrowed down fairly quickly to Count of Monte Cristo - pluses on that side, swash and buckle and Guy Pearce. On the other was Bend It Like Beckham - Goodness Gracious Me stuff, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and what looked like a very funny film as well as v. good reviews. Finally narrowed it down by me putting two Reading FC fixtures behind my back and Steph choosing a hand. Then helped proof-read Anna's dissertation on the Disney Corporation, first chapter of.

Went in. Laughed our socks off. It's hysterical, the footie's good, femmeslash by the bucketload, (christ, there's even a point where Jules' mum gets convinced they're lesbians) Steph has been converted to the faith that is Jonathan Rhys Meyers - she was asking if he was straight (puts out slashy vibes even in *straight* films) at one point and asking where we could go to find more like him. That's the trip to Ireland confirmed.... :g:

And there's an Indian Wedding (tm), as well as an explanation of the offside rule using table condiments. You can't ask for more. I have two kidnappees from that film, the girl who plays Jules - Kiera Knightley - and JRM. Mine! Mineminemine!

After that, Old Orleans. Many cocktails (me and Steph are cocktail whores from a very early age - started on the non-alcoholic) and quasi-New Orleans-ish food (j'adore their jambalaya) and nattering of all kinds of topics. Apparently Steph has never heard the me skidding on the milkshake mix at Burger King story, which is odd, since we're talking my best mate since 5 years old.
