Body? you are weird. or at least your water loss is. Last night, scales say 10 and a half stone. This morning, 10 stone 6lbs. Not unreasonable. But scales when I get back from jogging say 10 stone 4lbs. It was fricking cold. How the hell did I sweat off 2lbs? Oh well. Maybe I'll drop some more by T2. Which would be good, but I don't give much hope.

Not giving much hope for the current state of election. But my brother pointed out that Cameron'll have to make so many cuts that people'll be screaming for his blood come autumn and it'll linger in people's memories.

Thursday, took [livejournal.com profile] miniosiris to Legally Blonde as the snows prevented her last time, and we'd managed to get rather fabulous stalls seats. Had been going on about Chris Ellis-Stanton, aka Legs McBlondie in me and Taz dancer nicknaming. (Taz insists that the nicknames are in fact their real names) I was hoping like hell he was on that night as he'd been on holiday for the past few days, and had preached about his dance skills and legs. Cathy had been bouncing along, giggling, and then... UPS guy scene. Cathy's jaw hits floor, as does the rest of the audience. I smirk. 'That's Chris.' 'Guhhhhh...' 'My work here is done.' Stage door, managed to get photo, he was very pleased that I'd seen him in Anything Goes and at Regents Park, and Cathy says that my expression is like unto cat that got cream. She also nearly killed herself laughing during the Ireland songs and the courtroom scene, but that's expected.

Over the Rainbow is getting interesting. Last week, Stephanie, who was a real threat to Danielle, got given Mr. Bojangles, aka the sabotage song. And lo, it worked. This week, musicals, two people to get kicked out. And apparently the Lord based it on how they handled the dog. Aside from blatant giving Jess Supercalifragilistic in yet another horrific outfit which is difficult - girl was out of breath half the time but she's yet to be in the bottom two, and giving Danielle 'On My Own' from Les Mis (interestingly, they gave Sophie a technically weak song 'I Enjoy Being a Girl', but she was having fun with it, which means her confidence goes up, and she shines. Public really like that), how is it fair to judge someone when they've never had a dog? They've got six months to learn how to handle the dog. Jenny, having been given a song that she didn't have the experience for, went into bottom two. Along with Lauren, who the public simply don't like. Brilliant technically, very professional, judges and Andrew love her, just got too much obvious self-confidence for reality casting - the public don't like you unless you're humble. Lauren did a Ben - drown 'em out with a more powerful voice. So of course the Lord saved her. At least he did it without any prevaricating this time, but was very nice to Jenny afterwards. Let's see tonight who they kicked out at the end of last night.

Supernatural is ...agh, how is there only one ep left? :pokes Mark Sheppard: stop being so snarky and awesome. It's mean because we have to rewind when we're laughing so much.

Spent the last couple of days firmly ensconced in front of laptop, especially yesterday, given the utterly foul weather. So foul on sunday that I even dug out the workout dvd from a couple of years ago because jogging in that...blegh. Oh god. Had forgotten how soul-destroying those things are. So today, went 'fuck it' and am still to get warm, even if it was sunny from the lock back. But still better headwise than the bloody exercise dvd. Yeah. Running = 'what's this thing you call thinking' and 'keep going keep going pause because that westie is trying to lick your shins to death'.

Watched Requiem for Detroit last night. Wow. Just... wow. Now that's one damn good piece of documentary, tying it from when Henry Ford first started Detroit as a car city, how it caused the near full-on segregation to its final collapse and the current wave of deconstruction and turning old housing plots into farmland. Though you could see the documentary makers rubbing their hands with glee when it came to the music - Motown just for starters, then you've got Eminem actually singing about 8 Mile (yes, they did start and close with Lose Yourself), *and* interviewing Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas as she's a city councilman.

Doctor Who : So much set up. SO MUCH. And dear Moff, STOP MESSING WITH OUR HINDBRAINS. Angels. Not being able to open your eyes. AUGH.

Over the Rainbow, I think we're seeing tactical from the Lord again. Mr. Bojangles is the kiss of death in these things, so giving it to Stephanie...

Contemplating going to see Iron Man 2 once showered.

Kick-Ass is waaay too much fun. think am the last person in the office to see it, though. But since it's a Matthew Vaughn production, playing 'spot the Lock Stock alumni' is rather amusing.

Self, it is a good thing that when you go into town for a specific item of clothing, there is nothing else that fits or is a colour you can wear. (seriously, couldn't even find a pair of jeans that would fit - either I'm between sizes again due to xmas/easter or they're cutting it in weird shapes. And dammit, can we please have hipster straight leg cut for women with curves? Is that so difficult?) Couldn't even find a decent denim miniskirt.

Over the Rainbow is a bit odd. Judging by the twitter #dorothy comments, no-one's really emerging as a clear fave or obvious. People have who they like but there's no Connie/Lee/Jodie this year who's head and shoulders above. Stephanie is probs the lead since she hasn't had any 'meh' numbers/ended up in the bottom two. Danielle started off as obvious ALW fave but has had a couple of meh weeks due to bad song choice. Lauren's really good but public has this problem with anyone who states their confidence early on. Steph's emerged as an interesting dark horse after ending up in the bottom 2 the first week - the producers have since given her great songs that show her range, really good VT and great outfits, and all the commentary is along the lines of 'awwwww' and 'Steph is so adorable'. I'm not sure if she's Dorothy but if she keeps on like this there's a very high chance she'll end up in the top 3. Jessica's gurning too much, Sophie is adorable but not really in the running unless she pulls something amazing out of her arse, and Jenny's got a great voice but something's missing. What was really hysterical was the baying for Emilie's blood. For the last couple of weeks people've been going 'no, seriously, who the fuck is voting for her?' since her tuning is horrible, she can't act and she has two expressions. The cheering that happened when she ended up in the bottom two was just slightly amusing. It got really, really obvious that her range is not the range you need for Wizard of Oz, since she screwed up 'Over the Rainbow' something chronic.

Note to producers 1) : We really don't like the sob story VT. This is not X-Factor. 'I used to be fat/deaf/suffer from stage fright' will not cut it on the stage when everyone else is quite willing to rend you limb from limb with their teeth to get there. Steph's VT, in contrast, focussed on her family who we're voting get a show of their own.
2) : None of the mums have any right voicing an opinion unless it's Steph's mum, Baby D, because she's got experience of the business and therefore might have some insight.
3) : Half-arsed medleys are NOT mashups. LEARN.

2nd week of live show.

preliminary thoughts on who they want and audience manipulation. (this is half the fun of watching the show) Haven't watched the results show yet, but as the voting is done on the first show...pay no attention to the man behind the curtain )

Of course, this is early days, but we'll see.

currently stripping a 9ft ivy leaf garland and pinning its leaves on the bodice of my tink outfit. I rather like the current half-covered effect where it looks like the leaves are creeping down it, but costume demands full-coverage. Unlike the first attempt at a tink costume, where I was overlapping like hell to make sure not one scrap of fabric is showing, I'm going for a slightly more lax effort of coverage - I want the bodice to be able to move.

This is it in progress.

For the 'twisted' version, shall probably be adding fishnet and jewellery and bodypaint, with strong Young Vic christmas show influence. Not sure about bothering with wings.

Good Friday is varying between downpours and bright sunshine. Still bloody cold, though.

Tomorrow, more Dorothy. Also New Dr Who, which I will not be saying owt about until I've seen it because I trust in Teh Moffat. Which most people are saying. We trust in Moffat more than we ever did Uncle Rusty. Dorothy so far is interesting. As usual, the usual spouting off about wanting 'something different' from the Lord, while the rest of us look on at the final ten and go 'hmm, awful lot of pale-skinned skinny brunettes there, Andrew...' (The lesson is to trust in David Grindrod. Casting director of awesome knows what he's doing.) Seen a lot of major talent, many of whom were *not* Dorothy but would be fab in something else, and we'll probably be seeing a good few of them up on the stage in the next year or so since even just the auditions are damn good exposure, and the industry now recognises this, hence the upping the game in the levels of talent. Of the ten (not including wildcard) I'm leaning towards Dani, who did the Connie/Lee/Jodie thing of being shown to have humility, a great voice, and approval from judges, with no messing around at the winnowing down. Influencing the viewers? What influencing the viewers? Still slightly scared about the fact that they're including *gasp* musical theatre numbers from the offset this time around. How will we cope when we can't bitch about pop songs not showing off their voices?

Going Postal trailer's up on the Sky website, and it looks good. [livejournal.com profile] random_c's impersonator appears to be doing a pretty good job so far.

In dance news, linked off the New Adventures website is Richard Winsor's screen debut in Streetdance 3D (hip-hop dance genre is also known as streetdance in the UK), which from the trailer, looks like Bestest thing EVAH. Readers, I put it to you:

Hip-hop dance crew needs rehearsal space for upcoming finals.
Get rehearsal space at a ballet school.
With proviso from Charlotte Rampling that they have to include some of her pupils in the crew.
Cue everyone doing their best 'The fuck?' reactions.

The trailer includes Mouthy Female Leader (tm) seeing the Head Ballet Boy (Winsor boy) practicing after hours in the rehearsal rooms.

Reader, can YOU predict the rest of the trailer, let alone the film? I have faith in you.

Film features what appears to be a pretty good soundtrack, two of the Battle teams are Diversity and Flawless, Gregor Sampson's in it, at least half of the featured crew are Blue Boy alumni (did Into the Hoods) and dammit, Richard Winsor. The dance shots that include Richard jumping are a thing of beauty. So, fucking gorgeous dancing *and* cheese-plot LULZ. (they also get points for using the South Bank as a dancing location, which is realistic) I must see this film.

There is only one problem. Richard does not appear to be playing menacing or bisexual (I have faith in his powers for good as regards the latter). There is something wrong here. And bloody costumers have put him in a loose white suite for several shots which... this is the same outfit that he wore as Dorian Gray. Not once does it appear like he's about to watch his tiresome ex overdose on the floor, drown someone in a bathtub or bash their head in with a camera. :pokes film suspiciously:
