I accidentally tripped and fell into the zavvi sale and got Rome S1 and S2 for £19.99 each.

DON'T JUDGE ME.

to do :

john lewis for trimmings stuff.

easter eggs. I may have left it a tad late for the dark chocolate ones this year. whoops.

post as much fic as possible to [livejournal.com profile] darkisrising so it gets used the other 11 months of the year....

Rome finally finished dl'ing last night. Oh, CAST. Octavian. :thud: You cold-blooded bastard. :pats Mark Antony: Cleopatra? So nice to see you doing the civil, pleasant regal thing. The face-off between her and Octavian is a thing of beauty. Livia. Octavia! Atia! :hugs Vorenus: In conclusion : PULLO.

(no, really. for those of you on my flist waiting for it to be on terrestrial, every episode of series 2, no matter what else is happening, each ep is also about how awesome Titus Pullo is.)

Tonight, the tv is MINE. Dr Who Weakest Link. John Barrowman on Charlotte Church. (things that will happen : Cardiff jokes, him taking the piss out of her for being welsh, her taking the piss out of him for not being able to pronounce Welsh names, gay jokes, pregnancy jokes, and ... oh yeah. singing.)

New Dr Who trailer on youtube. And once again, heather's geekiness has been proven. There's a shot of two figures running down a corridor; cue me going 'oh look, John!' [livejournal.com profile] jamjar informs me that this is far sadder than being able to recognise Ray Winstone by the back of his neck, because Ray Winstone has far more cool points. :bites nails nervously: It needs to be 7pm saturday *now*.

Oh, and if anyone saw Dead Ringers, there's nothing quite as freaky as seeing Blair regenerate into David Tennant. Also : Captain Jack in bed with cybermen, in the security camera hotel room sketch they do - getting the reactions of the hotel staff. The girl's expression was to die for. Especially when he started singing. And my god Dead Ringers is evil. The images of Albert Steptoe (also proven to be immortal because he just won't die, the inconsiderate sod) in Torchwood. Oh dear god. it's far, far too plausible. Jack would spend his time snickering with Albert, Ianto would spend his time twitching due to the amount of tea he was having to make, Tosh and Gwen would just try not to say anything, and Owen would be sulking because someone can actually leer better than he can.

I love Ugly Betty far too much for words. Especially the evil twinnage of Mark and Amanda.

BSG? Pootling along in their screwed up fashion. :pats entire cast: Bless. And ooo, Mark Sheppard? (Badger from Firefly and things like 24 and X-Files to you) As a lawyer who... oh, the sunglasses. Mmm, the sunglasses. and a realistic Irish accent. (the one that's the soft gravelly one - it's not Belfast, that's all I know)

Rome. Oh god, show, never leave me. Pullo. Oh, Pullo. Mark Antony in eyeliner and henna/tattoos. Octavian sex scenes? :falls over in drool puddle: Also, Livia. It's nice to see that you are really intelligent and calculating under the cutesy. We approve.

End of season approaching. Thing is, I don't know if they can do a third series, since it's not as clear an arc - first one was very clearly going to end with the Ides of March, and this one was about the ascent and then dissolving of the Second Triumvirate with Octavian winning. The third? There's not exactly a 'big event' that's known by general public about Augustus' reign and he was rather long-lived. It's not like you could suddenly jump to Tiberius and then Caligula - not to mention the sheer aging and so on you'd have to do of the main cast. Plus? Caligula and Claudius are descended from Livia's *other* kid (the one who was born about four days pre-her marriage to Octavian, rumoured to be Octavian's but really, really not since he didn't actually meet her until she was a good couple of months preggers with said sprog), who married Octavia and Antony's daughter, and the series has only mentioned Tiberius (not to mention Caligula's mum is Julia and Agrippa's kid - Julia being Augustus' kid from his first marriage - the Julio-Claudian family tree is *guaranteed* to give you a headache). Rome, I love you but your trimming of all the kids means you've kind of shot yourself in the foot for the production of future Caesars.

Saw the first ep of Miss Match. Whose pitch was so very clearly 'Clueless grown up'. Alicia Silverstone has irritated me in everything except Clueless, but since she's quite clearly playing Cher (seriously, second gen lawyer daddy's girl with a thing for matchmaking and clothes?), this is actually enjoyable. Complete fluff, but fun fluff.

Still not got round to watching the SG-1. It lurks in my downloads folder. I think at this rate I'll be watching my shiny new dvds before I do. And possibly even the entire season of Dr Who before I watch SG-1. Reminds me, need to watch S3 Entourage before new eps start.

It's always nice when the sandwich people hire eyecandy. The office now gets a Diet Coke Break. :g:

If anyone hasn't seen Baby Got Back as interpreted by messrs Gibert and Sullivan, please do not watch this at work or when you're drinking. Damage to keyboards may occur.

Ah, charity shops. ♥ found a perfect condition suede miniskirt for 5.99.

ooooo. Waaaant : Bracelet phone. As long as they make it small enough that it won't slip off my hand. ...The Japanese do have smaller hands than me, don't they? :worried look:

Play.com has encroached on my bank balance again. Damn them. Topsy Turvy, Sunset Boulevard, Pirates of Penzance (Kevin Kline version, see the Baby got Back vid) and Grease 2 will be miiiiine. :drums fingers: Still waiting for Aspects of Lloyd Webber, which seems to have been put on indefinite hold by the publishers. Waiting til next month to get Sunset Boulevard soundtrack (US Glenn Close version, by all accounts far superior to the UK premiere).

Need to get off arse one lunchtime and go down to John Lewis for trimmings for the dress so I can actually make it.

Watched that Taste of My Life thing. (John Barrowman trying to be on every single programme ever before Torchwood filming starts) Him and Nigel Slater are frankly adorable. Was rather funny hearing about him and Suranne Jones' thing for junk food during A Few Good Men - this explains her pouncing on our offer of Millie's Cookies when stage door stalking.

Now just need to catch up on BSG, since I *finally* now have a copy of ep 14 that isn't corrupt. Then possibly see if I can manage to get through the remaining SG-1 eps - I've started ep 15 four times now? Slightly amused by the gateworld rss feed - 'exclusive preview look of episode 11 photos!' 'Second part of S10 starting!' Us and the Canadians : '...honey, the show *finished* this week.'

Rome. Also known as :thud:. Aside from the last thirty seconds of this week's ep, during which two words were spoken which managed to convey an entire situation and I nearly squeed the house down and fell over. Dear James Puresex, why have they not cloned you? However, what I'm amused by is the fact that Octavian (older version, not Max Purkis) is completely being compared to Paul Bettany. I mean, seriously, everyone's using the phrase 'Bettany-esque' for both looks *and* acting - and as a description of how Octavian should be portrayed. Something about a combination of finely drawn aristocratic and cold-blooded acumen with added potential bastardry and sex appeal.

Hmm. Can anyone manufacture an excuse to have James Puresex and Paul Bettany in a production together, playing off each other? (A Knight's Tale, they weren't actually facing off in the same scene much, so that doesn't count. :mutter:) Please? I mean, you'd have to get the drool buckets, CPR units and defibrillators ready, but.. but... think of the artistic necessity!

Never again will I mock people who walk through the snow with a brolly. By the end of my walk to work (I had considered getting the bus due to running a bit late, but seeing buses sailing past full and the queues at the bus stop...) My hair was soaked. Bleh.

I was cosy due to the huge coat of ultimate swankiness, and had fun mocking the people who think trainers are sufficient wear for four inches of snow/slush on the ground. Boots with grippy souls or at the very least a heel are your friends.

But anyway. SNOW!!!!! EEEEE!!!! THAT WILL NOT MELT BY THE AFTERNOON! SNOW!

You may have guessed that I have a five year old's attitude to snow. Even when I'm fucking freezing and tired, I still have it. I have gone *jogging* in the snow before and was ridiculously bouncy even as the cold air was painful on my lungs.

What was amusing? Amy Winehouse's 'Back in Black' album is fucking perfect for drying out and drinking coffee whilst getting you through the first bit of the morning.

Am appreciating teh Barrowman's performance on Sunset Boulevard. (as usual, the highly illegal mp3 recorded in someone's lap version) Looked at it on amazon for tracklisting and reviews and kind of... undecided. Because I'm aware that John's take is pretty different from the original - the reviews of his performance were 'my god, it's Joe Gillis as a brat'. Anyone listened to the original cast recording and got any opinions?

Oh, and completely unexpected headlines for those familiar with [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, G-W.org. [livejournal.com profile] teh_no is attacking [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary for stepping on his ego and not keeping in the little narrow boundaries he feels she should stay in. also, she shouldn't write porn involving Robins.

Watched 3x20 of SGA. Where I squeed far too much over Chuck's appearances - I have such a new appreciation for that man since Peg 2. We shall hug him and squeeze him and call him George.

Rome? New Octavian. Okay, not such a cold emotionless little bastard as Max Pirkis, but this one is still a manipulative bastard - only filtered through what I refer to as the Paul Bettany Chaucer type. Constantly mildly amused, manipulative, laidback, etc, but without the volatility of Mark Antony. And yes, I did drool on my shoes.

Note to self : burn and delete stuff, run spybot and registry cleaner when I get home.

...shite.

Shite. Just got a call from mum - one of my uncles has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, plus tumours behind the eyes so he can't see too well either now. Prognosis and survival rate is apparently not too wonderful, and he'd been looking forward to early retirement just before this.

Kind of mostly worried about my cousins, since their mum only just finished cancer treatment (for the second time) a couple of years back. Gah.

...This post was originally going to about torchwood bunnies and adoration of Ugly Betty and the assistants cabal, with added Marc being Justin's fabulous gay fashion-obsessed mentor. Rome love continues apace.

Oh well. Let it also be known that I have inflicted [livejournal.com profile] megolas with Torchwood/Planetary crossover bunnies in relation to something I said about the episode style fic. And now I want a conversation between Jenny Sparks and Jack Harkness. (century babies need love)

Scaring people at work with coughing and wheezing. Oh, go *away*, it's just noise and all it means is that I'm not in spanking perfect health. You haven't said anything about the sneezing of the past week.

Watched Rome. Oh. My. God. SHOW. Never leave me. never ever leave me. Far too fucking fantastic. Camera work. Dialogue. Manipulation. Sheer *presence* of the characters. Oh, *Octavian*, you cold-blooded little bastard. Atia. Servilia. Calpurnia. And then we have Vorenus and Pullo, who we must squish together all blood-soaked and crude and call them George. Excuse me, Mark Antony lust just set in again. :thud:

In other news, Morven's going to kill me for the state of the inbox at work. I've been doing most of it, but leaving aside certain difficult ones to do later. Getting as much done in the way of everything as possible, but it's been more like herding cats - I work it out as maybe a day or so behind.

Need to go bed. Argh. I have Torchwood plotbunnies swarming, damn them. One new one, one semi-old, and no, the 30s time travel valet fic is not one of them. Hopefully the semi-old will stay short and simple, since it's really just about a joke. The new one, on the other hand, reads far more like an episode or so. With plot. Arrgh.

Had fun earlier on [livejournal.com profile] robinhoodbbc. Did a mod post of reminders re:headers and tags and whatnot, then came home and had the lovely warm feeling of deleting a post that was off-topic. (my new definition of off-topic includes bad spelling and grammar, but this was mostly 'OMG SQUEE I dreamed about Jonas Armstrong wouldn't it be great if -') :happy sigh: Lovely warm feeling.
