Tremors is amusing. Have also shaved a couple of people off friends lists as I realise I no longer read their journals, just skip 'em - no offense to whoever I snipped.

Getting pressure from parents to take driving lessons. Like, serious pressure. I'm fairly happy pootling along as a pedestrian, considering car insurance/petrol/price of car, but they're acting like it's life or death. And saying 'oh, but what about that job you might get that requires you to drive to it?' I just stare at them and realise there's no way thay can understand that I refuse to go for any job (even if I had my license) that requires me to get to somewhere that's so far out of the loop that you can't reach it by a combination of public transport and a bike. They're now trying to say I'd be practically a leper in this society without a driving licence. I think they've got a bit... fixated.

Heh. I held out with the "No Driving" thing for 25 years, only to find myself in a 700 person village in the middle of nowhere (i.e., the wilds of Wiltshire). I caved. It was that or go mad. *g*

Hold out! I've never needed to drive for any of my jobs, and I'm so damn glad I never learned. My family say the same things to me, despite all the evidence that I'm actually, you know, gainfully employed and licence-free.

I was a holdout too but realised that while, most of the time, a car wasn't necessary, one made life much more convenient and there would always be occasions when life got very awkward without one. Conclusion - it's very nice to have the option.

Re: Tremors - did we watch the same series?!?

Tremors the film. Was on Sci-Fi last night. Kevin Bacon as an utter, utter hick. heh.

Ah right, that explains a lot. Yes, I did like the original Tremors. Not seen the sequels though and I couldn't quite bring myself to sit through the whole of the first episode of the series. Maybe I should give it another try...
