Inspired by God hates Shrimp.

One of those times when you feel the urge to go up to the people yelling about god hating gays and inquire :

Excuse me, is that polycotton fibre you're wearing?
:tut: There's lycra in that.
Do you eat bacon and ham? Really?
Ever eaten anything with a cream sauce?
Do you eat shrimp?
Do you have a mortgage?
I don't see any tassles at the corners of your clothing.
Do you garden? Cool. Do you leave it fallow every seven years?
When you've harvested your crop, do you go right to the edges and get every last bit? Oh, you do, do you? :tut:

Oh, and for all those familiar with the 'mixed fibres in your clothing' argument, that's actually mentioned *twice* in the old testament, Deuteronomy *and* Leviticus. So it's at least as bad as being gay, if not worse, because I'm pretty sure ref #2 about men having sex with men is more of a mild rebuke, and ref #3 is in the letters of Paul. Mixed fibres is *specific*. And much worse than witchcraft.

I believe that most Christians who "(yell) about God hating fags" are a bunch of yahoo's. But, there are a number of us normal Christians who know that the Levitican codes were for the Orthodox Jews to follow. As Gentile Christians, Levitican tradition has no bearing on us. Hence the New Testament, where homosexuality is mentioned in both I Cor. and Romans. So, that's where most of us are coming from. We're not all crazy people toting "God Hates Fags" signs, honest. There are a good number of us who just happen to believe that Biblically, it is a sin, but that homosexuals are still human beings who deserve love and understanding, and yes, to me that includes a right to marry. I haven't been vocal about any of this becuase I've been on the fence as to what I personally believe, but I have recently decided that if, in my opinion as a Christian, and based on what I know of Scripture, homosexuality is a sin, then it is just that; a sin. Sin is sin. It's not to be weighed or measured against other sins, therefore, a homosexual who is sinning is no different than me sinning. Therefore, we're both faulted human beings who deserve the same rights under the law, including marriage.

Okay, I'm not going to even go into Paul. The reasons are the result of exposure to too much religious theory and debate that you really don't want to hear, but the main one being that Paul wasn't Jesus and thus had no authority to say owt on the subject.

we'll just leave it at that.
