Serenity : complete
Apr. 15th, 2008 01:28 pmOfficially knackered.
Guests all fab. Weekend came under header of 'bouncy bouncy squee'. Somewhat croaky monday morning due to doing usual job of photo ops tannoy.
Varied between serious actor questions and amusement, and some rather serious stuff on reporting of media (Pixel asked Miranda and wow did she go off on one. The amounts she sounded like Warren Ellis/Spider Jerusalem when he goes off on one about the truth being kept from us is *scary*)
W. Morgan Sheppard : more awesome than thou. Officially. (also the highest photos/autographs sales...)
Mark Sheppard : We love Mark. And as he says, it's all about him. (with added holding court and telling stories til 4am in the bar and taking the piss out of the Photo sales coterie on sunday afternoon. Also, apparently Emma Thompson is one of those women who may not look amazing, but can walk into a room and every man in there will abandon their supermodel girlfriends to dribble over her.)
Kandyse McClure : Hee. we love Kandyse. And once again she dropped herself in it. on a regular basis. I also possess a thing that I didn't think was possible - a photo where she doesn't look perfect. Gorgeous, but not actually perfect.
Leah Cairns : Adorable, Nikki had to drag her off the dancefloor a few times because she'd injured her back and wasn't supposed to be dancing that much.
Miranda Forbes : utterly awesome. You expected less?
Nikki Clyne : adorable. Officially so, according to everyone at con. Lost her luggage and had to be loaned clothing - closing ceremony, she thanked everyone for offering to lend her some.
Adam Baldwin : brilliant, funny, does impressions of Stanley Kubrick, completely held up autos by insisting that he talk to everyone.
Ron Glass : his usual evil self. And showing off about getting his own comic.
Richard Brooks : we love him. Sings wonderfully. Would choose to be Black Panther if a superhero. (and was verrry pleased to hear that BP is now married to Storm because, well, Halle Berry)
Jamie Bamber : excuse me while we drown in puddle of drool. He sounds posher than you'd expect. want him back!
During the Kandyse-Leah-Nikki talk, I get to microphone, Kandyse immediately greets me with 'here comes trouble'. Me? What did I do? Asked her about it after closing ceremony (this coming from the woman who shot Paul with nerf gun due to being pouty about having to let go of the lightsaber) and she pointed out that this was the most clothes she'd ever seen me wearing and the fact that when she first saw me on friday, I was wearing a bikini. I resent this. On the other hand, the More Romo compilation had me wearing the miniskirt and showing off as much leg as possible, and I got several 'Heather! You're wearing *clothes*!' on friday afternoon and sunday evening.
Chuck fans out in force on saturday - though I couldn't quite believe that the only people to come as Wienerlicious girls were me and Phillippa (she did it during the day, I did evening). Plenty of Buy More and Nerd Herders. During the photos (Kurgan commissioned me to round up all of them I could find), when it was just the Buy More staff, they all tried to hide their beer and I yelled 'For shame! Don't you have pride in your uniform?' Cue them all posing with very confused or dopey expressions, beer out in force. :g:
Disturbing costumes : Chrissie in full Marie Antoinette/Madame de Pompadour gear. Sonia in Belle from Beauty and the Beast (I think it's the blonde wig) - Chrissie in Snow White, on the other hand, looks perfectly normal. Taz in the cupid outfit from Nutcracker - as she said, I'd be the only other person at the con to ID it, but it was way too much fun. Appear to have convinced DJs that they need to do Swan Lake. mwhahahaha. Also had the fun of being completely justified in sitting in judgement on a costume - Tors was doing Cabaret and I'm the authority on that outfit.
Nearly had a costume malfunction with the Wienerlicious outfit - it fit when I made it last week, but saturday? Had to cadge a safety pin off the Reavers to take the skirt in by 3 inches to stop it falling down, I could fit two fists down the back of the corset, and the shirt was falling off my shoulders. I knew I had to replace my bras, but that much in less than two weeks? AUGH.
The Cutler twins managed to reduce an audience to helpless laughter by doing the full routine to 'Backstreet's Back' - and Jack was wearing Sweeney Todd. Andy produced a space hopper on sunday night. Since he was wearing the Jay outfit, this looked completely in character... Several questions about the Hawaiian gear. Cathy has applied for apprenticeship. Did the distinctly dodgy sixties fantasy cover art pose again.
Ah, the fun of stewarding and being one of the more... identifiable stewards. Apart from having to report for duty at 8:30am. Photo ops was vaguely on time (aside from Sean telling Morgan on saturday that he wouldn't be needed til 4 and could go back to the hotel - cue photo ops cursing Sean's name because he was due for a photo shoot) , the speed we got through the Jamie Bamber singles on sunday was frightening, but due to being photo ops tannoy and runner and one of the more identifiable convention goers, I kept getting asked questions about all *other* stewarding matters. 'Look, you'll *know* when it's time for this actor because you'll hear me!' Ended up writing on the board 'Autographs are at 4:30. Stop asking the blonde girl.' And then being grabbed whilst queuing for autos on sunday by the stewards on duty for help with queues management, place marker, questions and covering while some of them buggered off to do something. Cue me yelling 'why me?!?'
Checked camera this morning. Taz, these photos taken down the pub on Sunday wouldn't have anything to do with you, would they?
Me + Tony did the snogging and groping in the middle of the bar for ages on Friday and then broke and went 'we really hate people who do this, don't we?' then sniggered and decided to carry on. (sadly, no due to me having period) I can't believe he didn't know that I'm a slightly retired comics geek. Who, er, managed to drop £45 on graphic novels in the dealers room - it was the latest 100 bullets and the Blue Beetle GNs. Don't judge me.)
Oh, and Jackie and Shaun got engaged. d'awwwwwwww.

Date: 2008-04-15 05:11 pm (UTC)Adam = officially awesome. And gorgeous. Loved his hardware store guy impersonation and a pretty damn good 'standard' Engish accent [feeding squirrels in the park, 1985]. Loved that he took time making sure people got 'face' time with him during the autos. I was in session #2; someone suggested I sing to entertain the queue, but most of my suggestions for musical entertainment were naysayed [grrr]. I did manage a 80% accurate version of 'Anthem' from 'Chess' before grinding to a halt. [sniff].
