[Poll #1487113]

ETA : you know, one day I'm going to see who can name all the ticky quotes. most've these are pretty easy, and admittedly they're all themed, but I do wonder who can actually complete the last one...

I kept half of my first fannish id, the 'merit', but cut out the latin half. At the time, latin seemed so precocious. Ahh, 15 judging 12.

Although almost nobody recognised "Gidjabolgo" or where it came from. I stopped using it when I started to meet fandom people, and they started to call me by my handle.

yeah, this bugs me so much when people call me "Lemur" or "Saint Lemur" in real life.

See part of my user name comes from my uncle's nickname for me anyways, so I have no problems personally being called by my handle at cons and stuff.

ISTR you explaining it somewhere about 12 years ago.

For my part, I've always gone by my real name, partly as a reaction to receiving heavy mockery about it as a child; it's a way of saying 'up yours!' to the people who found it funny at school.

(And; personal hot button; I have a certain level of disdain for Gideons who have given in to the pressure to be normal.)

Fortunately, it's a rare enough name that I can use it without major danger of confusion, though it caused a small amount of disruption when [livejournal.com profile] caerleon turned up on AFP back in 1996; he settled on Gid, I stayed as Gideon.

I'm still Megolas for writing fic (so frex: Yuletide and my domain email etc) but for LJ purposes, as I use it less and less for fannish purposes, I changed that.

Nope, I've always been sassy_lion.

I had another name once on mIRC, but it just kind of link back to sassy_lion anyways....

I had a different username once, and once I actually started getting involved in fandom I shifted gears and got a different one. But I still use the old one on a few places (including Twitter). *shrugs* So I guess I have dual identities? :P

Been [livejournal.com profile] snowballjane since 1997 for all fannish stuff, but have different username for things like skating comms to avoid weirdness.

For the bonus one -- just changed the journal name the first time; second time I moved to an entirely new journal and put a little bit of effort into separating the two, though I've stopped caring as much as time's passed.
