Right. Off to funeral in nottingham around 3pm, so will be sans internet access for almost :gulp: 24 hours. Have bought Chris's birthday pressie, got an apology xmas one for Tabs since the actual xmas one is probably useless now, and hope that Rose hasn't bought hers in the few months since. Hansonism encroaching. arrgh. Now I just have the migraines to look forward to... (mind you, I have weaned myself off hair dying)

[livejournal.com profile] astolat has gone and committed Entourage vidding. It's Eric/Vince, but more about the friendship and it's ridiculously bouncy. I'd probably compare it to the Fastlane vid done by... er... :scratches head: Livia, maybe? Oh lord, I need to watch S3....

ITV Jane Austen verdict, Persuasion : Hmm. I'd say this one was the most successful, and even the camera quirks really worked, especially for the end running scene. Anne is convincing, as is Captain Wentworth, and I frankly adored Tony Head as Sir Walter, playing up the snobby tosser for all he was worth, plus Alice Krige brought the well-meaning snobbery for Lady Russell very well - more distant than the BBC version. Very good use of locations and scenery. [livejournal.com profile] alysscarlet, got a verdict?

Dr Who : We love Martha. And the Doctor. He's getting more batshit insane as the series goes on (Christopher Ecclestone being PTSD insane, Tennant being just basically *nutty*). Also, (no, this is not a spoiler), costume departments really need to stop outfitting alien races in such obviously recognisable gear. Those are New Rocks they're wearing. Okay, so you didn't see the logo, but they're er, kind of recognisable. Flatmate watched Dr Who for first time ever, having wandered in when it was just starting with a view to eyeing my biccits surreptitiously (she gets very unsubtle when I've been to the market). Explained to her that this is family entertainment, and one of the purposes is to completely scar little children. And make them hide behind the sofa. She couldn't stop laughing at Tennant's nuttiness or bugging slightly at some of the kid-scaring bits. Time shall see if we have a convert. Conclusion: Uncle Rusty is once again back on form, and actually dealt with the rose question *better* than the end of last season did. Next Saturday, the Cardiff gang take over the Globe Theatre...

An aside for the pubmeet gang, who have a tendency to discuss such things as scheduling and ratings and behind the scenes issues: Did you see what all the other channels put up against it? They've really, really admitted defeat. ITV - Harry Potter, but an hour earlier, in a weak attempt to get the kiddies to stay on that channel. Fat chance. Sky - Next Gen. Channel 5 had Terms of Endearment, which is at least pitching at a different market. BBC2 and Channel 4 had repeats of something, I think.

...I can foresee Any Dream Will Do becomign a guilty pleasure. Rather good seeing the judges giving constructive advice, especially when the 30-something dad came on and JB told him to stop, get on his knees and start singing to his kids. Suddenly, whole different quality of voice. Wincing for the poor sod who got told to re-start about five times, them telling him to go down an octave, or back it up and then it turned out his voice couldn't handle it... Interesting that you start to get in tune with the judges and can actually tell when they're going to say 'no' just from two or so lines of singing.

Persuasion: liked it, up to the last 5-10 minutes. Running through Bath got a bit ridiculous and when it came to the kissing we were practically shouting at the tv in outrage. Damn them! Can't remember the book that well. Somehow doubt it's in the text.
